Engineer III plays a key role in supporting successful execution of commissioning, re/retro-commissioning (RCx), and energy audit projects. Reporting to the Commissioning Manager, this individual will provide technical expertise, oversight, and technical management to ensure that the performance of buildings, systems, and equipment conform to design specifications. This person may also be engaged in marketing activities to support business development efforts. Ideally, the person filling this opening will have at least five years of experience doing this type of work, building operations background, an engineering degree, and Professional Engineer License, familiar with HVAC Test & Balance (TAB) procedures, holding either NEBB Building Systems Commissioning Certification (or equivalent), and established industry contacts and relationships. However, KFI is prepared to hire the right individual, who may be less experienced and does not have these preferred credentials — provided they have the other necessary qualifications. KFI is prepared to invest in the development of the right candidate through internal training and self-driven additional training courses. The successful candidate will have a pragmatic and applied approach, enjoy fieldwork, and effectively interact directly with customers and contractors. Operational knowledge of Building Automation Controls (BAS) experience is required. They will have a strong attention to detail and will possess effective communication and influencing skills. This person will also be self-directed and will thrive in an environment where consultation and collaboration lead to superior outcomes. Responsibilities

Conducts building performance evaluations and audits, including commissioning, re/commissioning, and retro-commissioning activities, primarily executing HVAC functional tests with point verification and sequence tests. Assists in creation or witnessing of other system tests (electrical, lighting, life safety, fire protection, plumbing). Active participation in construction meetings; directs commissioning meetings, records action items, and distributes them to stakeholders. Performs construction inspections to ensure MEP installations conform to project documents. Assists in performing Test & Balance measurements. Works with Performance Group staff to develop technical reports; self-perform and assist others in calculating building energy use and savings. Acts as a Project Manager, including developing a project plan, securing resources, and keeping the project on track for on-time delivery; ensures all project work is properly set up, documented, and reported. Performs design reviews for new construction projects from a commissioning perspective. Reviews MEP submittals for conformance to design documents and owner's interests. Manages financial aspects such as budgets, invoicing, and forecasting. May supervise Performance Group personnel on projects. Contributes to Business Development activities, including building internal and external relationships, supporting opportunity development, assisting in proposals and interviews, and attending conferences and trade shows to identify leads. Qualifications

Required: Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. Required: 5+ years of direct HVAC, building operations, or construction fields. Required: Proficient in MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel). Required: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate with others. Required: Knowledge of computer technology and specific areas of application. Required: Travel: May include up to 25% domestic travel. Required: Valid driver's license and reliable personal vehicle for work-related travel. Required: Working conditions: Some work locations will feature the rough terrain typical of construction sites or require lifting or moving field testing equipment. Preferred: Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing design. Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: $103,000 - $129,000. The final agreed-upon compensation is based on qualifications, experience, work location, and education. This position is eligible for an annual bonus.
