Overview
Manager 2 Structural Analysis Engineering – Northrop Grumman. Location: Clearfield, UT. Clearance: DoD Secret or higher. Travel: 25% of the time. Relocation assistance may be available. Responsibilities
Serve in dual capacities as technical individual contributor as well as functional manager for Structural Analysis Engineering Team of approximately 6–10 engineers. Understand requirements and methods of analyzing composite structures to determine structural viability that leads to certification. Perform structural analysis including static, dynamic, stability, and damage tolerance analysis. Build finite element models (FEMs) using CAD geometry, meshing, and running solutions; manipulate large-scale FEMs. Document structural analysis methods and implementation using calculation aids and propose new methods as project needs dictate. Compute margins using appropriate analysis methods. Support material review board (MRB) and nonconformance to ensure sound structural substantiation. Solid understanding of loads development, preliminary and detailed design, static analysis, FEM, D&DT, fatigue, bolted and bonded interfaces, repair, structural test, and in-service mods, repairs and extensions. Lead root cause and corrective action requirement analysis. Manage execution of program requirements to meet technical, cost, and schedule objectives. Provide challenging tasks and assignments to key talent in the organization. Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant STEM field and 9 years of relevant experience; or Master’s degree in a relevant STEM field and 7 years of relevant experience. Experience with finite element modeling. Experience in static, dynamic, fatigue, damage tolerance analyses of composites and metallic materials. Solid understanding of loads development and analysis methods and ability to recommend loads to other engineering teams. Experience in writing technical reports and presenting data clearly. Experience with structural analysis methods and implementation using calculation aids and proposing new analysis methods. Active DoD Secret or higher clearance (with background investigation within last 6 years or Continuous Evaluation).
Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance prior to employment; SAP must be obtained in a timely manner as determined by the company. Preferred Qualifications
Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Materials, Manufacturing, or Chemical Engineering. Current, active DoD Secret Security Clearance. Leadership experience in a managerial, lead, or supervisory role. Experience in composite materials testing methods, failure modes, environmental effects, and bonded joints. Experience with software packages such as Siemens NX, AFGROW, ANSYS Abaqus CAE, Femap, Nastran, Matlab, Visual Basic. Experience with aircraft certification for military and commercial airplanes. Experience with metallic and composite structural analysis methods development. Knowledge of loads development used for structural analysis. Knowledge of composite materials and manufacturing. Experience in test planning, test support, and data reduction; MRB support. What We Offer
