Mackenzie Stuart is partnered with a fast-growing nutraceutical contract manufacturer seeking a skilled Product Development Formulator to join their team.
Responsibilities
Works with guidance from the Product Development (PD)/Quality Control (QC) Director to develop formulations for a variety of dosage and delivery forms (oil and water-based liquids, softgels, 2-piece capsules, powders, and granulations) that support Sales and Marketing needs. Works within PD and Operations teams to troubleshoot technical, formulation, and processing issues during product development and commercialization.
Collaborates with the Purchasing team and PD/QC Director to generate new formulations and source raw materials for cost analysis and feasibility of formulations.
Maintains accurate project information, formulations, and specifications. Collaborates with the Quality Assurance department in the development of proper documentation for new formulas and product development projects.
Assists with QC analytical testing.
Has hands-on proficiency with GC, HPLC, and ICP-MS.
Assists in providing annual and on-the-job training of lab personnel.
Monitors and escalates lab staffing, supplies, and equipment needs as necessary.
Works collaboratively with cross-functional teams including Sales, Quality Assurance, Purchasing, and Operations on new product development and to resolve ingredient and product technical issues.
Requirements
BS in Food Science, Chemistry, Nutrition/Dietetics, or related field required.
2-4 years of product development (PD) related experience in the dietary supplement or pharmaceutical industry.
Experience in product and formula development and familiarity with natural product chemistry.
Strong knowledge of ingredient and formulation costing methods.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Documented ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Strong documentation, organization, troubleshooting, and time management skills.
Familiarity with good manufacturing practices (GMPs) and regulations for dietary supplements (DSHEA) preferred.
