Overview
As the onsite Field Engineer, you will support the pre/post-sale monitoring and maintenance process, and the deployment engineering processes for the sale and deployment of advanced Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) Wi-Fi, Point-to-Point and other communication systems for project facilities in and around the Norwich metro-area. You will utilize signal test equipment and software to conduct facility surveys in areas of outdoor and indoor cellular, 2-way radio and Wi-Fi signal strength and path. You will also review installation specifications, owner requirements, and manufacturer’s instructions to determine and evaluate installation sites. This role is onsite at RF Connect’s customer facilities and reports to the Field Engineering Supervisor. You should be able to work productively in a remote and independent setting and be within commuting distance of customer sites in the Norwich/New Haven CT metro-area. Responsibilities
Work with team leaders & senior engineers in the direction, assignment, and completion of deployment engineering tasks for RF Connect’s pre and post sales DAS and general RF business for customers in the service area (Norwich/New Haven CT). Perform and fulfill the operation of project Warranty, Monitoring and Maintenance contracts for customers in the service area. Ensure Service Level Agreements (SLA) and delivery dates are met for the maintenance contract and RF deployment activities for customers in the service area. Work with Tier 1 NOC Engineers to provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 support for customers in the service area. Provide pre-sales support by conducting site evaluations to assess coverage and facility conditions and DAS constructability as necessary. Collect and process data with mobile software and devices for baseline benchmarking and post-DAS verification. Post-Install commissioning and optimization as required. Perform CW/RF path loss testing to validate system designs on customer premises. Prepare and review BOMs as needed. Document designs and coordinate with project support during Deployment phase. Assist and help define best practices to ensure maintenance SLA compliance for our customers in the service area, where operations are 24/7/365. Collaborate with Project Managers to maintain and improve project budgets for services performed and deployments. Conduct on-site surveys to include constructability and RF benchmarking as required. Balance competing requirements between projects, PMs, Sales, Maintenance SLAs, and find solutions to provide services while balancing business needs. Assist in identifying subcontractors to fulfill SLA agreements in the local market and finalize delivery agreements for Maintenance package support. Qualifications
Experience You Have
At least 5 years of experience in a telecommunications role and systems environment (RF, DAS, or Wireless) Previous field experience in a complex technology and systems environment Technical knowledge and ability to establish and apply processes and solutions Wireless RF systems Attention to detail Administrative timeliness and excellence Proven superior customer relationship skills Analytical and problem-solving skills Leadership by example Responsible for all test equipment, tools, vehicles, (location, condition, calibrations etc.) Microsoft Office applications Demonstrated organization skills, time management, attention to detail, team-oriented communication skills, and ability to meet deadlines Educational/Vocational Training You Have
Bachelor’s degree in Electronics or Computer Science (or related field), and/or equivalent experience/certifications, or working towards a degree Knowledge of DAS OEMs – CommScope/ Andrew, Corning/Mobile Access, JMA, ADRF, SOLID (any existing certifications a plus) Familiarity with iBwave, JDSU, Invex, AutoCAD Environmental/Physical Demands
Must be capable of lifting within regulatory limits This position sometimes operates in commercial construction sites, hospitals, and occupied commercial & government buildings. Some activities require the use of a ladder or lift and standing or walking for extended periods. When in the office, standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, etc. may be used. Additional Information
