Building Automation & HVAC Controls Engineer

Tutenlabs . We are looking for an engineer or technician with hands-on experience in HVAC and Energy Management Systems (EMS) to join our Field Services team. You will be responsible for installing, diagnosing, repairing, and commissioning Building Automation Systems (BAS) to ensure peak performance and energy efficiency. This hybrid role requires 40% travel within the U.S., mainly to West Coast client sites. Install, repair, calibrate, and commission BAS and EMS systems. Perform preventive maintenance and apply control strategies to optimize system performance and energy efficiency. Diagnose and troubleshoot DDC systems using PC and web-based tools. Conduct low-voltage electrical testing and calibrations for sensors, controllers, and related components. Read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and control system drawings and sequences of operation. Coordinate subcontractors, project timelines, and client communication. Prepare technical proposals for system improvements, expansions, or new EMS projects. Ensure accurate technical documentation and project closeouts. Collaborate with the Account Management and Customer Success teams to ensure smooth and successful project execution. What We’re Looking For (Qualifications)
Education: Technical or university degree in electrical, mechanical, or automation engineering. Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in HVAC and EMS (Energy Management Systems), preferably in commercial or industrial environments. Proven experience diagnosing, installing, and maintaining BAS and DDC systems. Willingness to travel 30–40% of the time within the U.S. Previous experience with Siemens, JCI, Trane, Schneider, Honeywell, or Alerton is a strong plus. Hands-on experience with HVAC, DDC, and EMS control systems. Familiarity with Novar LogicOne, Trend/IQ, and Tridium-Niagara (certifications are a plus). Knowledge of energy efficiency measures and electrical consumption control. Advanced English required; Spanish is a plus. Benefits
