Overview AECOM is hiring for a Civil / Structural Engineer with a primary focus on Transmission and Distribution projects to support our Energy Business Line. The role offers remote work and/or placement at various Energy offices across the United States. Our team provides civil and structural engineering services across markets including electrical transmission and distribution, renewables, industrial process, building decarbonization, and next-generation energy.
Responsibilities
Under minimal direction, complete engineering assignments of moderate to advanced complexity.
Prepare overhead line design using PLS-CADD.
Design transmission and distribution line structures (steel and wood) using PLS-Tower and/or PLS-Pole.
Design transmission line foundations using MFAD and L-Pile.
Design substation support structures and foundations.
Design underground high voltage transmission lines and/or low & medium voltage distribution lines.
Perform seismic design for substation assets.
Apply civil/structural engineering knowledge and understand other disciplines.
Potential to provide technical guidance to a modest-sized team.
Prepare and execute civil/structural project scope; ensure codes, permits, and software are fully applied to substation and transmission projects.
Review and check work sequences, calculations, specifications, and documentation for approval and storage.
Oversee review of construction and vendor drawings and interdisciplinary vendor documents.
Assist with task and effort estimates for proposals; help plan and schedule engineering tasks within the civil/structural discipline.
Maintain positive working relationships with peers; occasional travel to other AECOM locations and client sites; participate in field walks, create field sketches, take dimensions, climb ladders as necessary.
Qualifications Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural or Electrical Engineering and 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Experience must include structural design for electrical substation and/or transmission and distribution.
Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam certificate.
Preferred Qualifications:
5+ to 6+ years of experience (preferred).
Professional Engineering license in Civil or Structural Engineering.
Experience modeling, analyzing, and designing steel structures and foundations for industrial projects.
Experience with various voltage levels (4kV, 12kV, 138kV, 230kV, 500kV, etc.).
Proficiency in PLS-CADD packages (PLS-Tower, PLS-Pole).
Experience with structural analysis/design software (Staad.PRO, SAP2000, MFAD, L-Pile).
Working knowledge of industry codes and standards (NESC, IEEE, ASCE, AISC, IBC, etc.).
Experience working with remote teams and on full EPC/Design-Build projects.
Owner’s Engineering experience and experience with retrofit or brownfield projects.
Experience with civil drainage and sitework design; knowledge of AutoCAD 3D.
Driven, technically proficient, and collaborative.

Compensation: USD 110,000 – USD 140,000 per year, based on education, qualifications, experience, and work location.
