Black & Veatch . This is a staff-level, full-time opportunity with the company’s employee-owned structure. Responsibilities

Review and evaluate facilities and equipment to determine the appropriate fire protection requirements. Support projects such as power plants, oil and gas processing facilities, data centers, or water treatment facilities. Proactively communicate fire protection requirements and guidance to internal and external clients. Generate detailed fire protection specifications. Generate piping and instrument diagrams and perform hydraulic calculations. Review detailed sprinkler and alarm drawings/calculations for accuracy and code compliance. Communicate with city and local officials. Independently apply knowledge to maintain a culture that supports the implementation of quality. Team and Environment

The Mechanical Engineering Department is a global team delivering high-quality, on-time design and services across Power, Gas, Fuels & Chemicals, Water and Waste Water, Data Centers, and Mining projects. The Buildings Mechanical Engineering team designs HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems to ensure safety, comfort, and energy efficiency. Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced knowledge in areas such as state and local codes and standards (e.g., IBC, IFC, NFPA). Fire protection design experience for power plants, oil and gas facilities, water treatment facilities, or data centers. Construction and constructability practices and principles. Procurement and contract administration. Minimum Qualifications

Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program or equivalent engineering experience. Minimum of 5 years related work experience. Holds active engineering registration or licensure to support engineer of record (EOR) requirements for BV projects in applicable countries, and supports where necessary. Certifications

Typical office environment with possible site visits requiring crouching, grasping, standing and walking. Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days based on manager discretion, performance, and assignments. Compensation and Benefits
