Duties, Responsibilities & Other

Work collaboratively with team members and coordinate project elements for water resources projects.

Execute project work, produce high-quality deliverables, maintain project schedules, and mentor junior staff.

Join a diverse team with active projects in NC, SC, TN, GA, FL, VA, and DE.

Provide planning, design, and construction oversight services for DOT, municipal, and private clients in transportation and civil engineering, including drainage, hydraulics, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, green infrastructure, and ESD/LID.

Complete hydrologic and hydraulic computations, reports, and modeling; design and prepare construction drawings for water resources projects.

Coordinate design development and assist with technical direction of junior staff; contribute to multiple projects within schedule and budget.

Communicate effectively in written and verbal form and apply water resources and civil engineering principles.

The candidate should have a strong background in water resources and civil engineering, with a focus on project execution and supervision.

Required Skills & Required Experience

Experience in stormwater management, design of stormwater quantity and quality controls, hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, drainage design, erosion and sediment control design, and watershed modeling.

Understanding of hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, HY-8, HEC-HMS, SWMM).

MicroStation and Geopak Drainage experience or similar CAD software.

Pre-employment drug screening; background and motor vehicle checks may be required.

Project Management And Leadership

Plan, develop, coordinate, and direct large projects or engineering programs.

Supervise teams, conduct research, collaborate with internal departments, and manage client relationships.

Provide technical oversight and guidance; serve as task manager on select projects.

Training, Development, And Compliance

Mentor and train staff; comply with KCI policies and ISO standards.

Develop professional relationships through industry involvement and assist in talent attraction.

Financial Management And Reporting

Complete tasks on time and within budget; manage project budgets with the Project Manager.

Project Execution And Technical Oversight

Conduct site visits, prepare design calculations, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates; review shop drawings; interpret field data against base plans.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (AEC Industry).

Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience; strong track record in planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, and monitoring engineering projects.

Proven project management experience with successful project delivery.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to interact with clients and stakeholders.

Knowledge of construction management, quality assurance, safety protocols.

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Education And/or Work Experience preferred

Master’s Degree (preferred).

Certificates, Licenses, And/or Registrations Required

Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.).

Pre-employment drug screening and background checks may be required.
