Job Description The Assistant Electrical Engineer (or Energy & Utilities Analyst) will work under the supervision of a consultant or project manager to assist with developing solutions to technical and economic challenges encountered by our energy and utility clients. The Energy & Utilities Analyst will assist with power system studies that evaluate power plants (both fossil fuel and renewable) and delivery systems (transmission and distribution). Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, power supply planning, due diligence, performance and benchmarking evaluations, site assessments, investment planning, condition assessments, financial cost/benefit evaluations, and renewable development.

Key Responsibilities

Analyze, interpret, and apply engineering, financial, and economic principles to client projects.

Apply knowledge of engineering and financial concepts, practices, codes, and procedures within the consulting industry.

Assist in analyzing life-cycle costs, developing technical assumptions for capital, operational, and maintenance costs, and economic forecasts.

Support technical assessments related to regulatory impacts.

Assist in designing, reviewing, and modifying drawings per project requirements.

Support power system planning and operations analysis, including power flow, stability, and reliability studies.

Perform technical, economic, and financial studies for utility projects.

Utilize power system software for transmission/distribution analysis.

Contribute to assessments for both fossil and renewable energy generation.

Support risk assessments and detailed financial analyses.

Assist in preparing technical reports, presentations, and client communications.

Perform other duties as assigned and ensure compliance with policies and standards.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Finance, Accounting, or related field from an accredited program.

Preferably from an ABET-accredited program.

Internship or consulting experience preferred.

Excellent communication skills.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Attention to detail, teamwork, and leadership qualities.

Minimum GPA of 3.0 preferred.

Legal authorization to work in the specified country.

Additional Details This role is full-time, based in Atlanta, GA, or Charlotte, NC, with travel expected up to 10%. The position is open until filled, with a minimum posting duration of 72 hours.
