Overview

The Chief Engineer ensures all mechanical, electrical, and structural aspects of the hotel and property are maintained and repaired as necessary. The Chief Engineer is responsible for all aspects of the room maintenance program to ensure safety and comfort for all of our guests and employees. The Chief Engineer trains, supervises and manages the maintenance staff. Reports To:

All hotel departments, Contractors, Vendors, Local and State Inspectors Essential Job Duties: Understand and comply with all departmental policies, procedures, and safety standards. Use maintenance tools and equipment, only as intended. Complete room checks daily; ensure all amenities are in good repair, fix or replace anything that is broken. Coordinate with the General Manager to schedule subcontractors to complete preventive maintenance, as necessary, acting as the point of contact on property. Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guest requests. Always maintain positive guest relations. Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of work areas. Develop and implement a preventative maintenance program for all building equipment and guest rooms, train all maintenance staff on program. Maintain inventory of all parts and supplies. Ensure proper operation, maintenance, and repair of water filters, softeners, pipes, and pumps used as water distribution, to include sinks, toilets, supply lines, and water lines. Ensure proper operation, maintenance, and repair of all types of motors or engines used to power pumps, compressors, and fans. Ensure proper operation, maintenance, and repair of all types of locks, keys, and locksmith related duties. Ensure proper operation, maintenance, and repair of all electrical and power sources. Coordinate planning, drawing, building and installation of carpentry work. Maintain company pool, complete testing and cleaning according to local health standards and codes. Purchase equipment, tools, parts and supplies, turning in receipts and tracking spending, purchases over a specified amount must be approved by the GM. Complete performance and aptitude reviews of maintenance staff. Prepare and adjust weekly work schedules in accordance with staffing guidelines and labor forecasts. Adjust work goals throughout the week to meet business demands. Inspect grooming and attire of staff; rectify deficiencies. Assign duties and work responsibilities to maintenance staff. Complete interviews and make hiring decisions to fill maintenance staff vacancies. Job Requirements: Must have a diploma or equivalent. Have at least 5 years of maintenance experience, 2 years management experience. Must be able to work under extreme variable temperatures and weather conditions. Expert knowledge of all plumbing, electrical, mechanical, carpentry, contractor and painting processes. Must work weekends and holidays, be flexible and return to property to answer guest maintenance calls after hours. Must be able to lift, bend, push, pull up to 50 pounds and physically move around the property and guest rooms freely. Must be pool certified or complete the company paid course within 30 days of employment. Must have a valid Driver License.
