Plans, directs, and coordinates activities pertaining to the landscape construction, renovation, and maintenance of an assigned contract in accordance with company policies, contract documents and governmental regulations. Responsibilities
Coaching, evaluating, and training staff and field workers in the performance of landscape services. Conduct field training of landscape and irrigation construction personnel. Supervise multiple landscape & irrigation installation projects of all sizes. Inspect field work; analyze and resolve problems. Ensure that all construction services are delivered according to contract specifications, within budget and on schedule. Evaluate project site conditions (surveying experience) including topographies and soil conditions; report to the project manager prior to the start of work. Work with project/branch manager to track all expenses on jobs, ensuring proper entry of time, materials and subcontractors for each. Meet and exceed the expectations and requirements of external and internal customers; coordinate with staff to ensure satisfaction. Manage labor force to ensure labor budgets are on track. Maintain accurate daily and weekly activity logs for Foremen and Supervisors; update production tracking and related reports. Dispatch labor and equipment to job sites; manage equipment utilization, storage, and maintenance. Evaluate employee safety data and promote safe work practices; ensure attendance at weekly safety meetings. Recommend staff changes, promotions, wage adjustments, and staffing limits to the Branch/Project Manager. Attend internal scheduling, pre-construction, and production meetings; participate in pre-construction meetings with General Contractors and architects onsite. Communicate with contract administrator and project/branch manager regarding permits, utility locates, and inspections; ensure digging permits are processed. Confirm plants are suitable for application as per drawings and specs. Evaluate project and organize RFIs as needed for architect approval; forward information to project manager or assistant project manager for transmission to the general contractor. Review plans, specifications, and estimates; address issues regarding materials or budgets at pre-construction. Organize material orders and delivery to job sites; ensure materials are loaded in the morning. Familiarize self with plans, details, and specs prior to start; pre-order materials as needed and research topics such as plant survivability, guidelines, codes, and irrigation. Obtain purchase orders prior to purchasing; provide accurate estimated value for POs. Ensure subcontractors and purchase orders are maintained and aligned with each project. Collect receipts and bills of lading for materials delivered to projects; identify each ticket with job name, number, and PO. Source and procure materials; order long-lead items as required. Schedule crews for days and weeks ahead for efficient project progress. Maintain current and warranty-period projects with proper watering and care. Look for opportunities daily to beat budgets while maintaining quality. Approve, code, and submit material invoices in a timely manner. Ensure optimal use of tools and equipment to complete projects and minimize rentals; return rentals promptly after use. Act as quality control for all installations and attend punch walks; conduct in-house walkthroughs and complete punch lists for substantial completion. Communicate project changes to crews and subcontractors; submit all change order information to the Branch Manager for submittal to executives. Verify crew time entries daily and manage timesheets and vacation requests for crews. Manage equipment/truck database and ensure routine maintenance is logged; coordinate repairs as needed. Manage GPS and driver safety scorecards for crews and provide recommendations to the project manager for driver warnings or write-ups. Organize weekly safety toolbox talks and ensure proper PPE and safety information is shared with crews. Follow safety protocols for reporting accidents and ensure policies are followed. Ensure crews return to the office and secure all trucks and gates; ensure all punch lists are 100% complete and projects are closed out. Seniority level
