Overview
Vice President, Civil Engineering Project Manager role at WSP in the U.S. This full-time position supports Southern California projects and can be based in Los Angeles, Irvine, San Bernardino, or Riverside, CA offices. The role is part of the California Regional Transportation team for local agency roadway and civil engineering projects in Southern California.
Responsibilities
Assist in the management, growth, and development of the Civil Engineering Transportation team.
Provide leadership and collaborate with the Local Business Leader and Senior Management Team.
Focus on meeting Key Performance Indicators and contribute to the overall success of the West Region.
Mentor staff to support growth and professional development.
Recruit for new key positions and retain current staff.
Support clients and the industry through innovative transportation projects.
Collaborate with local offices and national transportation delivery experts to provide innovative solutions.
Support transportation business development, strategy, client engagement, and pursuits in California.
Serve as key staff on pursuits (contract manager, project manager, deputy project manager, design lead, advisor, etc.).
Assist in procuring contracts with preferred contractors for transportation projects.
Engage with clients to develop new business leads and project pursuits.
Develop strategic alliances and project partners to secure new work.
Represent the firm in the market through involvement in client and industry events and associations.
Lead the delivery of roadway, transportation, rail, and transit projects for Caltrans and other local agencies in Southern and Northern California as part of the transportation team.
Lead projects as Contract Manager, Project Manager, Senior Lead, or other roles as appropriate.
Participate in contract negotiations.
Guide staff and manage project financial performance, QA/QC, risk management, and quality deliverables (PS&E, engineering reports, project memorandums, etc.).
Proficiency with technical writing, Microsoft Office, design software (MicroStation, InRoads/OpenRoads, AutoCAD, Civil 3D), and related tools.
Occasional travel as required by project needs.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a closely related discipline.
Engineer license required (California preferred).
Advanced proficiency with Caltrans Design Development process, Highway Design and Construction practices.
12+ years of relevant post-education experience in civil engineering and infrastructure design.
10+ years of total experience in Caltrans-related projects.
Ability to lead and grow the civil engineering business.
Experience as a project manager, deputy project manager, construction management, or task lead on projects.
Ability to work independently and provide guidance to mid-level to senior team members with QA/QC adherence.
Strong management and leadership skills with established client relationships and industry contacts.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects; excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication; capable of writing proposals and project documents.
Occasional travel may be required.
Master’s of Science in Civil Engineering or related field (preferred).
Experience with Caltrans and local agency roadway/intersection planning and design (preferred).
PMP certification (preferred).
