Purpose

Execute complex technical transportation engineering techniques, procedures and criteria for transportation and infrastructure projects. Assist in developing sustainable transportation solutions to make communities more livable by reducing traffic congestion, promoting multiple modes of transportation, supporting land development, and improving safety for all users.

Responsibilities

Leadership and Direction

Receive general instruction on key objectives for execution. Work is completed using advanced engineering techniques and design principles and is reviewed by more senior staff to ensure application of sound professional judgement. Review work produced by junior staff for quality assurance.

May serve as a lead in the technical direction over other less experienced engineers and provide guidance, mentorship, and delegation of assignments.

At The Operational And Company Level

Work closely with more senior members to learn about and assist with transportation engineering and planning work.

Assist with the marketing of the firm’s capabilities to establish new clients and enhance relationships.

Coordinate with other disciplines and internal groups as necessary.

Do the Work

Work side by side with the project team on transportation projects.

Prepare maps, graphics, and reports; conduct data analysis and field reviews; develop solutions; and present recommendations.

Ensure environmental considerations are integrated into roadway design, including stormwater management and drainage.

Identify and obtain necessary permits; ensure compliance with regulations.

Assist in grant applications and participate in construction-related tasks.

Draft communications, reports, and technical documents.

Monitor project progress, ensure quality control, and assist with client communication.

Mentor junior staff and lead specific analyses and design aspects.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field.

3+ years of experience in transportation engineering.

Proficiency in MS Office; knowledge of Bentley Open Roads Designer, AutoCAD, Civil3D, and traffic analysis software.

PE registration or ability to obtain within 6 months preferred.

Valid driver’s license and ability to pass background checks.

Physical Demands and Environment

Primarily indoor office work; occasional outdoor work and site visits.

Mobility required for site visits; ability to lift up to 20 lbs.

Travel may be required.

Salary range: $75,000 - $90,000 plus benefits.
