The Town of Brookline Department of Public Works is seeking a Pipe Layer to perform manual labor and preventive maintenance work for the Water & Sewer Division. The Pipe Layer will assist with excavation and backfilling of utility trenches, maintain facilities, and perform maintenance tasks. Responsibilities include general maintenance and cleaning of water storage facilities, reservoirs, and grounds; cutting grass, raking leaves, shoveling snow; maintaining hydrant and water main valves; and responding to water and sewer emergencies. Other duties include installation, repair, and maintenance of water mains, service pipes, hydrants, sewer, and drain connections. Requirements:
Knowledge of equipment operation, maintenance, safety practices, and work zone safety. Ability to operate light equipment and assist with projects; skills in equipment operation and driving. H.S. diploma plus at least two years of experience in water and sewer construction or similar maintenance and utility projects. Valid MA Driver’s License, Class D. Starting salary:
$27.07 hourly plus benefits and good working conditions.
