We are currently seeking a full-time Mechanical Assembler for the 2nd shift (3:00pm – 11:30pm) Monday – Friday at our Jet Products Facility located in Kearny Mesa.
What Does the Job Involve? The Mechanical Assembler performs routine assembly operations by piecing together machined parts with nut plates and rivets to create a sub-assembly for an aerospace engine by hand or by using hand tools or portable powered tools.
Responsibilities
Performs routine assembly using rivets and nut plates to create sub-assembly.
Performs assembly by fastening parts manually or using hand tools or portable powered tools.
Cleans rivet holes and prepares rivets for assembly.
Mixes silicone and applies to nut plate for piecing together machined part with nut plates and rivets.
Reads blueprints, schematics, or similar documentation, and builds to those specifications.
Maintains inventory of parts and tools used in the assembling process.
Provides feedback and input on potential new work.
Demonstrates ability to appear for work on time, follows directions from the supervisor, interacts well with co-workers, understands and follows work rules and procedures, complies with corporate policies, goals and objectives, accepts constructive feedback for improvement, establishes goals and objectives, and exhibits initiative and commitment.
Uses knowledge to recommend improvements to parts, materials, processes and procedures used in the assembly process.
Key Skills and Experience
Ability to read blueprints and engineering specifications.
Ability to read and understand written instructions.
Knowledge of hand tools and portable power tools.
Qualifications Education:
High school diploma/GED preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Vocational training a plus.
Experience:
6 – 12 months previous related manufacturing experience preferred.
