The Reliability Engineer is responsible for driving equipment reliability, availability, and safety across the facility in alignment with Process Safety Management (PSM) standards. This role ensures that manufacturing assets are designed, maintained, and improved to meet production demands while minimizing downtime, reducing maintenance costs, and safeguarding personnel and the environment. Responsibilities
Reliability & Asset Performance: Develop and implement equipment reliability strategies to improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE). Root Cause Analysis: Perform RCFA and recommend corrective actions for recurring equipment issues. Maintenance Programs: Lead predictive and preventive maintenance programs, including vibration analysis, oil analysis, thermography, and ultrasonic testing. Data-Driven Improvement: Analyze downtime trends, failure modes, and maintenance history to identify improvement opportunities. PSM Compliance: Ensure all reliability and maintenance practices comply with OSHA 1910.119 PSM standards. Mechanical Integrity: Support the MI element of PSM by maintaining asset records, inspection schedules, and repair documentation. Change Management: Collaborate with engineering and operations to ensure equipment changes follow MOC procedures. Risk & Process Analysis: Participate in PHA and LOPA reviews to identify and mitigate reliability risks. Maintenance Strategy: Develop and maintain equipment criticality rankings and risk-based maintenance plans. Spare Parts & MTTR: Optimize spare parts management to reduce MTTR. Upgrades & Upgrades Assessments: Recommend upgrades, redesigns, or replacements for persistent reliability concerns; provide technical support during overhauls and shutdowns. Continuous Improvement & Training: Drive CI initiatives to enhance asset life cycle and reduce unplanned outages; develop training materials and mentor technicians on reliability and PSM requirements. Emerging Technologies: Evaluate and implement new technologies to improve asset reliability and monitoring capabilities. Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field. Reliability Engineering Methods: Proficiency in FMEA, RCM, and root cause analysis techniques. Predictive & Preventive Maintenance: Experience with vibration analysis, oil analysis, thermography, ultrasound, and other condition-monitoring tools. Mechanical Integrity & Compliance: Strong understanding of PSM MI requirements, inspection intervals, and repair standards. Asset Performance Analytics: Ability to interpret downtime data, MTBF/MTTR trends, and maintenance cost drivers. CMMS & Data Analytics: Proficient in CMMS usage for asset tracking, work orders, and reporting. Risk-Based Maintenance: Knowledge of criticality ranking and life cycle cost analysis. PSM & MOC: Familiarity with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.119 and MOC processes. Analytical Thinking: Strong troubleshooting abilities for complex equipment issues. Innovation & CI Mindset: Applies Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen principles to optimize maintenance processes.
