Overview
We are seeking a
Senior Structural Engineer
to support the structural design and execution of a large-scale project. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, reviewing, and verifying complex structural calculations, specifications, material requisitions, and technical studies or reports. You will also check design drawings, coordinate vendor information, and lead technical discussions and constructability reviews to ensure design quality and project success. Base pay range $70.00/hr - $80.00/hr 12+ month contract Onsite / M-F Key Responsibilities
Lead and perform advanced structural analysis and design, applying expertise in statics, dynamics, and materials engineering. Determine appropriate use of structural materials (steel, concrete, wood, masonry) based on load and stress requirements. Prepare and verify complex engineering deliverables, including structural calculations, specifications, and material requisitions. Support proposal development through conceptual studies, cost estimates, quantity take-offs, and design reports. Plan, coordinate, and prepare equipment specifications, bid evaluations, and award recommendations. Coordinate structural engineering efforts across disciplines, specialty groups, clients, vendors, contractors, and construction teams. Prepare procurement and subcontract requisitions, perform technical bid evaluations, and develop award recommendations. Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior structural engineers and designers. Assist project and construction management with compliance, constructability, and resolution of technical or regulatory issues. Review and ensure the quality and constructability of design drawings and deliverables. Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in
Civil or Structural Engineering
(or international equivalent). 5–8 years
of relevant experience with a bachelor’s degree, or
9–12 years
of equivalent experience without. Required Knowledge & Skills
Proven
engineering team leadership
and experience supervising others. Ability to independently execute detailed design of complex steel and/or concrete structures. Comprehensive knowledge of structural design codes and standards including
AISC Steel Construction Manual, ACI 318, IBC, and ASCE 7 . Proficiency with structural analysis software such as
GTSTRUDL
or
STAAD.Pro . Strong understanding of engineering deliverables—drawings, specifications, material requisitions—and construction methods for steel and concrete. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to express technical concepts clearly. Strong collaboration skills and ability to work across disciplines, suppliers, and client teams to resolve design issues. Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency with
Mathcad
or equivalent engineering calculation tools. Experience using
procurement automation tools . Familiarity with
Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC)
and
Whole Building Design Guide (WBDG)
standards. Working knowledge of
CSI MasterFormat specifications
or
SpecsIntact . In-depth knowledge of
ACI 349
and
ASCE 4-98
standards. Professional Engineer (PE)
registration in the U.S. (Civil or Structural). Active security clearance . Previous experience with
government or Department of Defense (DoD)
projects.
