Overview
Our client, an architectural/engineering firm that supports a variety of building/facilities, planning and site development projects for clients in the Commercial, Education, Government (Local/Municipal, State and Federal), Mixed Use, Retail, and Workplace markets, is currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical engineering/design production efforts for their projects. Responsibilities
Work with Director, Mechanical Engineers and Project Managers to meet company goals and client goals Respond to estimated budget hour requests from Division Managers and Project Managers Assist project managers with development of project schedules and budgets Provide technical, project management and client management support to projects Work directly with company director and project managers. Assume the day to day responsibility of mechanical engineering design/production for assigned projects Work with PMs to establish design parameters consistent with project scope, schedule, and budget Prepare Mechanical design and construction documents in REVIT M&P, per applicable standards Coordinate with project managers regarding schedule and construction costs for each project scope of work Seek advice and counsel from Director of Mechanical Engineering Services as needed Interface with all professional disciplines assigned to the project to coordinate the mechanical work Prepare mechanical design studies, written design narratives, calculations, and analysis, and direct Mechanical Engineering support staff as required Research building materials and systems, select appropriate items for incorporation into the building design Maintain a working knowledge of architectural, electrical, structural, civil, fire protection and telecom building systems; coordinate these systems with the mechanical design Perform conceptual planning and design and confirm the requirements of assigned projects are consistent with the project scope, schedule and budget Prepare design documents as required for all phases of design (concept, schematic, design development and construction documents) Qualifications
Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited US college PE License as a Mechanical Engineer in the United States Minimum of 10 years of experience in the field of Mechanical and Plumbing Engineering working in an Engineering or Architecture/Engineering design consulting firm, with an emphasis on mechanical systems, HVAC systems, HVAC controls, plumbing systems, fire protection, piping systems, and mechanical utility systems for buildings Knowledge of related building codes and design principles Proficiency in REVIT MEP Software (AutoCAD or Microstation is a plus) Experience using HVAC analysis software (Carrier HAP or NIBS Trace 700 preferred) Familiarity with A/E industry BIM standards Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel Seniority level
