Project Engineering at V2X:

Project Engineering focuses on planning, managing, and executing projects, combining technical expertise with project management skills to meet objectives effectively. It requires a robust understanding of the project lifecycle and deliverables, with experienced project engineers leading development and execution.

Role Overview:

We seek a Project Engineer to serve as a Chief Engineer focused on production within our Weapon System Integration (WSI) Team in Indianapolis, Indiana. This leadership role drives technical and programmatic excellence in airborne systems development, leading a multidisciplinary team, and collaborating with internal teams and Department of Defense (DoD) service branches including the US Army, US Air Force, US Marine Corps, and US Navy. The Chief Engineer will work closely with the Program Manager to address technical issues, define objectives, and deliver compliant solutions, fostering strong stakeholder relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Chief Engineer, you will:

Lead technical and cost estimation efforts for Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) and Configuration Management (CM). Oversee engineering studies and participate in Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs) with customers and subcontractors. Support the Risk and Opportunity Board and represent Engineering on Failure Review Boards (FRBs). Advocate for the end-user perspective and act as the Voice of the Customer. Represent V2X to senior technical customers. Leverage the core production support team to resolve production issues swiftly. Escalate issues and risks appropriately within the program and engineering management. Chair internal technical reviews such as Production Readiness Reviews (PRRs), FRBs, and Consent to Ship (CTS) Reviews. Represent Engineering on Material Review Boards. Lead technical collaboration to pursue new production and repair opportunities. Ensure compliance with contractual and internal technical and production processes. Guide technical solutions towards transition to production. Chair and provide technical direction in the Engineering Review Board (ERB) and support the Configuration Control Board (CCB). Align program efforts with WSI area product/technology strategies by collaborating with the WSI Chief Engineer. Work with Mission Assurance/Quality teams to resolve non-conformance issues. Support monthly program reviews. Oversee staff forecasting and mentor team members as needed.

Required Skills:

Experience with internal engineering processes and project management. Project Engineer or Manager experience. Strong technical background with leadership in engineering projects. Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM) for cost and schedule control. Support experience in production and manufacturing.

Desired Skills:

Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification. Proven success in delivering engineering projects. 8+ years of DoD program management or IPT leadership. Experience with DoD R&D, TD, SDD, or EMD programs. Experience in DoD production, depot, refurbishment, or repair programs. Expertise with weapon systems and military platforms. Leadership experience in aerospace/defense programs, especially with large prime contractors.

Education Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 14+ years of experience. Master's degree in Engineering or MBA preferred.
