HDR is looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our Building Engineering Services Business Group in the Walnut Creek, or Folsom, CA office. This individual will be responsible for the electrical design of facilities in support of markets including Technology, Corporate/Commercial, Education, Healthcare, Water/Wastewater, Municipal, Industrial, Power, and Federal. They will coordinate and work closely with a multidisciplinary design team throughout the life cycle of projects—from planning through construction documents and construction administration. They will develop construction drawings, specifications, supporting engineering calculations, and review shop drawings during construction. The individual should be self-motivated, collaborative and possess strong leadership skills with an initiative to deliver high-quality, technically sound electrical engineering designs. Perform, plan, direct and monitor work of the electrical design team on small to mid-sized institutional/industrial projects through schematic design development and contract document phase of a project. Review electrical documents for conflicts with all disciplines. Write/edit electrical specifications and select equipment, electrical systems and devices. Assist with designs for upgrades and expansions of medium voltage and low voltage distribution, and green field design. Prepare electrical design (plans and specifications) per NFPA 70 requirements to include switchgear, pumping plants, pumps, lighting, HVAC, fire protection detection and suppression panels, and other loads. Engineer physical design (above & below grade) for conduit and cable routing in sufficient detail to construct. Produce drawings, markups, back-check electrical equipment/conduit arrangement drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams; specify conduit and cable, prepare calculations to support the design. Perform site surveys and verification of installation. Perform power system studies, including arc flash assessment. Perform engineering calculations, develop design options, and assist in the preparation of procedures and specifications. Perform data processing and statistical analysis, development of data plots and graphs. Establish meetings and participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance. Coordinate workload to complete the document on schedule and conduct work sessions at the project site with the Project Manager and other disciplines. Coordinate with and assist affected disciplines with addenda, RFIs, CPRs and change orders, and incorporate agreed-upon changes into project documents. Provide construction contract administration as needed. Conduct QA/QC on the work of other Electrical Engineers, Electrical Coordinators or Technicians. Perform other duties as needed. Preferred Qualifications

A minimum of 5 years experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting/power/systems). Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm preferred. Experience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED desired but not required. Required Qualifications

Bachelor\'s degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis. Previous experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting/power/systems). Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered (e.g., Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license). Strong computer skills using AutoCAD and Microsoft Office, Revit, SKM, AGI and Easy Power. An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must. The stated benefits are for full-time regular positions.
