GRADE ASTD23 LOCATION OF POSITION MDH Behavioral Health Administration 55 Wade Avenue Catonsville, MD 21228 Main Purpose of Job
This position serves as the Director of Juvenile Forensic Services within the Post Acute Care Unit Division. The Director of Juvenile Forensic Services is responsible for the coordination and oversight of behavioral health services, evaluations, and court-ordered attainment services for youth involved in the juvenile court system and to monitor youth court committed to Behavioral Health Administration (BHA) through court appearances and, if needed, written reports. This position also engages in extensive interagency collaborations and partnerships including but not limited to the Judiciary, Department of Juvenile Services, and the Department of Human Services. This position supervises PIN # 021958 Coordinator Special Programs Health Services IV- Mental Health. In addition, this position will provide training, consultation and supervision to MDH/BHA contracted Child Psychologists and Psychiatrists as needed; collect necessary data and participate in related research and evaluation functions. This position requires excellent problem-solving abilities, superior written and verbal communication skills and strong negotiation capacity.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Psychologists under the licensing requirements for Psychologists. Experience: Two years of experience rendering psychological services or engaged in psychological research after receipt of the Psychologist license. Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Clinical Psychology classifications or Psychology specialty codes in the Psychology field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
Desired or Preferred Qualifications
The desired candidate should possess the following: Experience as a collaborative leader (i.e., encouraging open communication, conducting brainstorming sessions, mentoring; leading by example). Experience testifying in court for both adult and juvenile cases.
Licenses, Registrations and Certifications
Candidates for this classification must be licensed as a Psychologist by the Maryland Board of Examiners of Psychologists prior to permanent appointment to a position. Applicants who do not have a Maryland license may apply before receipt of the required license but the application will be designated in pending status by the Maryland Department of Health (MDH) Testing Unit. When the license has been obtained, submit a copy of the license to MDH to remove the pending status from the application. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties that require operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
