Salary : The budgeted salary range for the position is $61,008 to $80,000. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity.

Postdoctoral Research Associate - Brodie Lab
A Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Mark Brodie in the Department of Physiology and Biophysics at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Research in the lab focuses on the actions of chronic alcohol exposure and alcohol withdrawal on the ventral tegmental area (VTA), and electrophysiological, molecular, and behavioral neuroadaptation of the VTA during withdrawal. A broad range of experiments and methodology are applied. The new recruit will have the opportunity to contribute to a cutting-edge project as part of an outstanding team of scientists of an NIH-funded Center; the position offers a unique potential to develop a productive career.

Key Responsibilities / Duties
Collaborate with Principal Investigator, other researchers, and key personnel to meet research objectives
Collect, analyze, and interpret data
Perform laboratory experiments
Maintain lab notebook with recorded data
Publish original scientific research in peer-review journals
Present research findings at national/international scientific conferences
Supervise research students in technical and methodological aspects
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
The candidate should have a Ph.D. degree or equivalent in a related field.
Candidates with the following qualifications are encouraged to apply: strong self-motivation;
strong record of first author previous publications in alcohol research and/or epigenetics;
plan, organize and meet deadlines;
good communication skills (writing and oral) and ability to collaborate with others;
experience with molecular methods and/or brain slice electrophysiology. Experience with behavioral methods related to self-administration is a plus.
