Under general supervision, delivers speech/language/pathology services through evaluation of patient needs, goal determination and development of treatment plans in accordance with the Maryland Speech/Language Practice Act. Assists with the overall operation of Rehab Services on the Unit. Qualifications

Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited college or university. Certification of Clinical Competency in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech Language-Hearing Association and a State of Maryland License in Speech-Language Pathology. 1 year directly related experience in a medical setting, with focus on general medical acute patients, sub-acute population, and neurogenic communication and swallowing disorders. Skills

Advanced knowledge in speech pathology theories, practices, and techniques Strong oral and written communication skills Ability to administer, score and interpret standardized speech, language and cognitive tests to delineate patient deficits, establish diagnoses and develop treatment plans with progress documentation Responsibilities

Evaluate the patient’s functional status by reviewing medical history, diagnosis and physician’s prescription; observe and interview patient/family/caregiver; apply appropriate assessment procedures Determine short and long-term goals with input from patients/families/caregivers; establish plan of care based on goals, evaluation results, and input from other team members Implement appropriate therapeutic interventions, progress treatment plans in areas of cognitive skill development, communication, oral motor function/dysphagia, perceptual function, orientation, psychosocial needs; teach patient/family/caregiver activities to reinforce interventions; recognize distress signals needing follow-up Document (re)evaluations, treatment plans, progress notes and discharge summaries; record data required for statistics, productivity, billing, and performance improvement activities as appropriate Supervise technical staff and volunteers as appropriate; provide staff training programs as needed Notify interdisciplinary team members of evaluation findings and patient progress; communicate regularly with the Rehab Coordinator Engage with patient/family/caregiver to elicit cooperation and address concerns Participate in discharge planning with the interdisciplinary team and recommend continuation of rehabilitation as needed Participate in performance improvement activities, collect data and identify equipment and supply needs Pay

$29.19 - $47.85. Final salary offer will be based on the candidate’s qualifications, education, experience and alignment with organizational needs. Equal Employment Opportunity
