Overview
Family Medicine Nurse Practitioner at Sun River Health in NY. Under the direction of a physician, the NP is responsible for planning, evaluating and delivering health care for patients on assigned service, with emphasis on preventive health measures and patient education. Locations: Peekskill, Yonkers, Amenia, Beacon, Dover Plains, Haverstraw, Hudson, Walden, New Paltz, White Plains. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Takes histories, performs physical examinations, gives immunizations (as necessary) and provides patient education and counseling. Orders appropriate lab work; may draw blood and perform some lab tests (e.g., wet prep microscopic exams). Prescribes treatment for minor illnesses and consults with physician regarding medications, chronic illnesses and referrals when appropriate. Maintains legible documentation and reviews records periodically; follows up on abnormal Pap smears and reportable STDs. Attends case conferences involving patients and participates in quality improvement, meetings and team assignments. Identifies and categorizes age-specific needs for patients (infants, adolescents, geriatrics). Follows OSHA infection control standards under CDC guidelines as endorsed by department and Infection Control Officer. Supports productivity, quality and patient satisfaction standards. Minimum Education Requirement: Master’s Degree Minimum Work-Related Experience: 1-3 years in a large medical practice with increasing responsibility (preferred) Minimum Licensure: Valid board certification as a Nurse Practitioner in New York State and CPR/BLS Job Details
