Summary The Practice Administrator manages the administrative, financial, and operational activities of clinical practice site(s). The Practice Administrator provides administrative leadership to the executive team, medical faculty, and staff in formulating and implementing organizational goals and objectives. This role is responsible for daily administrative aspects of the practices' clinical activities, outpatient operations, budgets, finances, marketing, and public relations. It includes policy development in areas of finance (revenue/expense management), professional fee billing, and general facility operations. The position embodies the Rush mission, vision and values and adheres to Rush policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
At least five years of relevant healthcare, hospital, or patient care delivery experience required. Prior experience in an academic medical center preferred.
Prior people management experience strongly preferred.
Strategic leadership and business plan development experience.
Ability to drive departmental growth and market share.
Ability to anticipate problems/issues in a complex environment and mitigate impact.
Strong communication skills with the ability to influence providers and staff.
Ability to develop trust and credibility with staff and providers.
Keeps up with current development and trends in the area of expertise.
Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite.
Responsibilities
Provide department leadership to achieve university and medical group strategic priorities and change initiatives. Develop long-term strategic and operational staffing plans.
Maintain collaborative relationships with physicians, providers, and leaders regarding operational, marketing, and strategic issues.
Translate goals into actionable tactics aligned with department and hospital strategic plans.
Engage physicians to support best clinical practices and effective management of resources.
Identify opportunities and threats and recommend strategies for growth; assess value/cost of investments.
Propose improvements in market position, patient experience, operations, and safety; oversee policies, patient experience, safety, and quality goals.
Monitor KPIs, scorecards, patient feedback, and financial reports; provide corrective action guidance as needed.
Support provider goals, research study success, and resident/student experiences; report physician-driven revenue and expenses.
Oversee staff and faculty compliance with ICARE values, policies, on-boarding/off-boarding, credentialing, and re-credentialing.
Participate in physician recruitment and pro-forma development.
Recruit, develop, and manage talent; monitor staffing metrics and orientation practices.
Foster a highly engaged workforce and monitor engagement to improve culture.
Encourage staff to understand Rush goals and industry trends by attending meetings and events.
Support staff professional growth and career development where possible.
Maintain regular, two-way communication with staff and align with Rush goals.
Ensure financial performance aligns with budget expectations; prepare and manage annual operating and capital budgets.
Monitor patient experience issues and implement practice changes; address patient feedback.
Ensure a safe, patient-centered work environment and participate in quality assurance programs.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and effective use of EMR systems (EPIC and other databases).
Advocate a culture of inclusion and uphold Rush mission, vision, and values.
