Overview

Performs routine radiographic, fluoroscopic and portable examinations in the diagnostic department of Radiology, on nursing units, outpatient areas and the surgery department. Responsibilities

Takes radiographs per physician orders. Maintain high quality results; 95% of films are satisfactory as measured by repeat rate. Exams are completed following procedure outlined in the routine book, including signing out requests with correct information. All requests must contain history pertinent to the ordered exam. Be versatile within the diagnostic department of Radiology in various areas: Routine room, IVP, fluoroscopy, portable (C-arm and routine radiograph), and GU. Must be able to perform all exams listed in the routine book. Protect all patients and employees from unnecessary radiation; use shielding when it does not compromise the purpose of the exam. Ensure technical factors are diagnostic and appropriate; use front desk operations and computer systems to manage orders, reprints or cancellations when necessary. Interact professionally with other departments and call in needed on-call imaging staff as required. Report equipment problems to the manager and Clinical Engineers; escalate as needed. Notify managers of equipment problems during on-call periods. Assist Radiologic Technologist Students. Perform duties related to equipment quality assurance, regulatory compliance (ODH, Joint Commission), ordering of supplies, scheduling and audits. Access to patient records is limited to information pertinent to patient care or regulatory requirements; document access appropriately in logs or system notes as applicable. Remain available for assignment as needed. Other duties as directed. Support the Radiologic Technologist Staff and participate in team activities. Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: EDUCATION: Graduation from ARRT-accredited Radiologic Technology program, and/or completion of on-the-job training allowing eligibility for certification. YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: Not specified. REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of medical terminology, isolation and sterile techniques; patient positioning and equipment operation (x-ray machines and printers). LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS: Technologists must have graduated from a program accredited by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and be eligible for ARRT certification in Radiology. Must have ARRT(R) certification and obtain a valid Ohio radiographer license within 4 weeks of start date to operate in the department. Senioriy level
