The Graduate Providence, located in downtown Providence, Rhode Island, is a historic 294-room hotel designed by Warren and Wetmore, renowned architects of Grand Central Station. Opened in 1922, it is a cherished part of Providence’s cultural fabric and a member of the Historic Hotels of America. Position Overview:

The Maintenance Engineer ensures the hotel’s rooms and property are maintained in excellent condition, performing routine maintenance and repairs including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, boilers, and carpentry. Responsibilities: Provide attentive, friendly, and courteous service to guests and staff. Maintain attendance and adhere to the hotel’s standards. Wear proper uniform and maintain personal grooming standards. Follow safety and operational regulations. Respond promptly to guest requests, problems, and complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction. Perform repairs on air conditioning units, HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical fixtures, and furniture. Participate in preventative maintenance programs. Log all work requests and follow up on completion. Respond to emergency calls within 15 minutes when on call. Inspect and maintain fire safety equipment. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent; experience in hotel maintenance preferred. Trade school or relevant coursework is a plus. Experience with steam boilers required. Basic computer skills necessary. Physical and Mental Requirements: Ability to work long hours, including weekends and holidays. Heavy physical effort required, including lifting over 100 pounds occasionally. Ability to climb ladders. Clear communication skills, problem-solving ability, and composure under pressure. Knowledge of emergency procedures and utility locations.
