Location: Hampton Inn Louisville Downtown 101 E Jefferson St, Louisville, KY 40202 Overview: The Chief Engineer is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the engineering division. In the absence of the Director, the assistant will assume administrative, financial, and operational responsibilities related to engineering. Responsibilities: Assist in developing and implementing plans to maintain property, equipment, grounds, and other assets in a safe and acceptable state of repair. Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal laws. Supervise and train all Engineering staff in customer service, empowerment, SOPs, and loss prevention. Create and post all Engineering staff schedules. Create and adhere to the annual departmental budget. Assist in developing financial forecasts and participate in monthly profit/loss reviews. Implement preventative maintenance programs for all hotel equipment. Ensure all emergency and life safety equipment and systems are inspected, tested, and certified per standards. Participate in energy conservation programs. Review guest and meeting planner feedback to identify and resolve issues promptly. Ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Administer vendor contracts controlled by the engineering department. Handle room maintenance requests promptly and courteously. Respond immediately to alarms, determine their cause, and take appropriate action. Assist with special projects and renovations as needed. Support and participate in all hotel safety and operational programs. Qualifications: At least 3 years of progressive facilities management experience in a hotel or related field, or 1 year of management experience with a 2-year college degree. High school diploma or equivalent required. Stationary Engineer’s license if required locally. Skills in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, boiler operations, and general maintenance. Ability to work long hours and exert physical effort, including lifting up to 100 pounds occasionally. Maintain a friendly demeanor and effective communication skills. Ability to multitask, prioritize, and handle problems efficiently. Attend all required meetings and trainings, participate in M.O.D. coverage, and maintain high standards of appearance and grooming. Comply with hotel standards and regulations, maximize productivity, and maintain confidentiality.
