Overview
Summary The Senior Process Engineer will serve as a technical leader for utilities at Chobani’s Idaho production facility. This position will lead focused problem solving, proactive and predictive process monitoring with a wider influence across the plant with a strong focus on utilities. The Senior Process Engineer will support a fast-paced manufacturing site through cross-functional collaboration and subject matter expertise, driving large scope transformative and process improvement initiatives. This role requires deep technical knowledge of utility systems, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to drive efficiency, reliability, and compliance across a complex manufacturing site.
Base pay range
$110,000.00/yr - $160,000.00/yr
Responsibilities
Serve as the subject matter expert for all site utilities, supporting maintenance and automation teams. Monitor, evaluate, and optimize utility systems, including steam boilers, ammonia refrigeration, compressed air, chilled water, and HVAC- to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation. Develop, Track, trend, and report on Process Performance Metrics (PPMs), leveraging Product Excellence monitoring to identify and address inefficiencies. Partner with the operational productivity team to identify and implement process improvements in utility performance. Lead the Management of Change (MoC) process for all mechanical, instrumentation, and automation changes. Drive energy efficiency initiatives across utilities, including tracking and reporting KPIs such as energy usage per unit of production. Provide troubleshooting support to maintenance as needed to resolve utility-related issues. Collaborate with maintenance teams to develop and implement preventive maintenance programs that improve reliability and minimize downtime. Provide weekend on-call support to maintenance and operations teams within assigned areas of responsibility. Work with CAD teams to update and maintain drawings, including P&IDs and Process Flow Diagrams. Support capital and process improvement projects related to utilities, such as boiler installations, refrigeration compressor upgrades, and heat recovery systems. Research and evaluate emerging technologies (e.g., renewable energy integration, water reuse, advanced heat recovery) to support Chobani’s sustainability goals. Occasional travel to equipment vendors and other Chobani sites.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred (other engineering degrees considered). 5+ years of experience in utilities management within a manufacturing environment. Strong background in utilities design, operation, and equipment management. Knowledge of project life cycle deliverables, contracts, and scheduling. Ability to work in a plant environment around heavy equipment, dust and noise. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, SEEQ, CAPE or TOPS, and AutoCAD. Demonstrated initiative, business acumen, problem-solving ability, and decision-making skills. Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize effectively.
