Responsibilities
Provide direct and indirect nursing care to meet physiological, psychosocial and emotional needs of residents, including adolescents (13-17), adults (18-64) and their families, within the correctional system framework.
Perform assessments of residents in various settings (initial intake, health care unit, sick call, emergency housing areas, chronic care clinics, infirmary).
Collaborate with a variety of health care professionals and security officers in a correctional environment.
Identify resident-centered goals and nursing objectives; implement prescribed interventions and solutions.
Plan nursing care by identifying residents' needs based on assessments; make timely referrals and initiate nursing care per institutional policies and procedures.
As team leader or charge nurse, delegate duties to other health care team members based on their skills and experience and guide care provision.
Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience:
Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
Certifications/Licenses:
License to practice in the State of New Jersey; CPR Certification required; Valid Driver's License required (must have own vehicle or alternative means to travel between sites).
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) or its equivalent preferred; minimum of one (1) year of experience in a correctional setting preferred.
