Speech-Language Pathologist

Key Responsibilities
As a
Speech-Language Pathologist , you will focus on the communication development of students. Your main responsibilities will include:
Planning & Preparation (60%)
Develop and implement IEP goals for students requiring speech-language therapy services. Design therapy activities to accommodate diverse learning styles and address students' specific needs. Collaborate with faculty and staff to integrate speech and language interventions into the daily school routine.
Therapeutic Intervention & Progress Assessment (25%)
Provide individual and group therapy sessions for students with speech and language deficits. Utilize state-of-the-art technology and evidence-based practices to enhance therapy sessions. Track and assess student progress, adjusting therapy strategies as needed, and reporting results to the team and families.
Collaboration (25%)
Work closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to create and implement individualized interventions for each student. Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and school-wide activities to ensure effective communication and coordination of services.
Record Keeping & Reporting (10%)
Maintain accurate therapy records and ensure that special education documentation is up to date. Use technology to track student progress, access IEPs, and update records as needed.
Professional Growth (5%)
Stay current in the field of speech-language pathology through professional development and training.
Qualifications
We are looking for candidates with:
Master's degree in Speech and Language Pathology from an accredited program. Licensed Speech and Language Pathologist in the state of Illinois. At least two years of therapy experience, preferably with children who have emotional disabilities. Experience with autism spectrum disorders is a plus.
Mental and Physical Demands
Mental: Ability to develop and implement effective therapy interventions and communicate clearly with students, staff, and families. Physical: Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. and assist during behavioral crises using Therapeutic Crisis Intervention techniques.
