The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) is responsible for providing comprehensive health services to DOS, DOD, and contractor personnel stationed in Iraq. The MLT performs lab tests and procedures, including microscopic, bacteriological, hematologic, immunologic, and chemical diagnostic analyses on samples such as tissue, blood, urine, stool, synovial fluid, and semen. The MLT identifies clues to the presence, absence, and progression of diseases through accurate and efficient lab testing. Key Responsibilities
Collect and process biological specimens for laboratory testing. Conduct routine and specialized tests in hematology, microbiology, chemistry, and blood bank. Maintain laboratory equipment and troubleshoot technical issues. Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean laboratory environment. Record and report test results accurately and in a timely manner. Collaborate with pathologists and other medical staff to interpret results and ensure quality patient care. Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Actively participate in Mass Casualty exercises and events. Complete required organizational compliance education for Joint Commission Healthcare Staffing Services certification or other regulatory bodies as specified by client. This role may include additional duties as required. Qualifications
Basic Requirements / Certifications
Minimum of 3 years recent experience as Medical Laboratory Technician, including 6 months within the last year. Certification as a medical laboratory technician through ASCP, AMT, NCALP, or AAB Board. Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Ability to read, write, and speak English effectively. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Electronic Medical Records (EMR). Experience on a military site working as a government subcontractor or prime contractor is preferred. Education Required
Associate's degree in medical laboratory technology or related field. Physical Requirements
Must meet pre-deployment physical requirements. Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods. May require bending, stooping, and lifting up to 25 lbs. Other Special Qualifications
US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required. Valid US Passport with at least 18 months before expiration date. Must maintain a current passport during stay in Iraq. Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (MRPT preferred). Must be able to relocate to Iraq for the duration of the project. Must be able to read, write, and speak English to effectively communicate. Additional Information
