P & C Designer (Protection and Controls) - Remote
GFT is seeking an experienced Substation P & C Designer to join our Power Group. This remote position involves design and protection and control work for high voltage substations. What You'll Do
Design and execution of high-voltage substations projects in the 4kV–765kV range with emphasis on project safety, cost, quality, and reliability Generate designs and detailed engineering deliverables under the supervision of lead engineer and project manager Perform basic engineering calculations related to design deliverables Develop one- and three-line diagrams; schematics and wiring diagrams; control and relay panel layout and specifications; wiring diagrams; SCADA interfaces including RTUs, HMIs and IEDs; auxiliary system design (batteries, chargers) Compile and quote/order relay and control materials per contractual agreements Follow supervisor guidance for more complex design tasks Review drawings to ensure installation and operation conformity to standards and customer requirements Travel to job sites for project assessment and data collection as needed Communicate and interact with clients Perform quality reviews of projects completed by peers Education | Experience
2+ years of relevant substation or electrical T&D design experience Proficiency with AutoCAD and MicroStation Familiarity with NESC, NEC, and IEEE codes Knowledge of substation voltages (MV, HV, EHV) Ability to manage project schedules and budgets Strong written communication skills Proficient in Microsoft Office What We Prefer You Bring
Experience in the energy industry or consulting services Thorough knowledge of NESC, NEC, and IEEE Compensation
The salary range for this role is $70,000–$90,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location. Featured Benefits
