The Department of Statistics at Iowa State University is seeking a
Communications Specialist I
to help share our story with prospective students and parents, alumni, and external partners. Housed in Snedecor Hall, the Department of Statistics and the Statistical Laboratory are dedicated to advancing statistical knowledge. As leaders in research, collaboration, and education, we offer students an experience like no other. We take pride in our award-winning faculty and students, and in our mission to develop and apply innovative statistical methods that make an impact. The Communications Specialist will play a key role in showcasing the department’s achievements and strengthening connections with students, alumni, and partners. Responsibilities Include Creating stories and materials that highlight student, faculty, and alumni successes for recruitment and donor engagement. Developing and distributing the department newsletter twice per year. Managing content for the department website and social media platforms. Drafting donor thank-you letters and supporting stewardship efforts. Collaborating with ISU Admissions on campaigns to increase enrollment. Monitoring news and publications for opportunities to promote the department. Representing the Department of Statistics in communications-related collaborations with the Iowa State University Foundation and other groups within Iowa State Engaging with students and student organizations to promote programs, clarify processes, and strengthen connections within the department.
