Overview
The University of Iowa Parking & Transportation department is seeking a Parking Ambassador. This position will ensure compliance with university parking regulations, provide assistance to patients, staff, and students entering parking ramps, and direct to available parking options accordingly. This position is performed fully on campus.
Responsibilities
Monitors traffic flow and parking ramp capacity.
Provides assistance to motorists, patients, or visitors by directing to appropriate parking options, elevators, skyways, or shuttle services.
Verifies validity and eligibility of each vehicle parking in hospital ramps.
Provides customer service and assistance to patients and visitors who have questions, concerns, or special needs including assistance with ADA parking or spaces close to entrances/elevators.
Contacts clinic to update on patient arrivals and advise if assistance or accommodation is needed.
Conducts setup and testing daily for required equipment ensuring functionality.
Promptly reports any issues, incidents, or complaints to department supervisors and documents them accordingly.

About Parking & Transportation The Parking and Transportation Department provides and supports access, mobility, and transportation services to faculty, staff, students, patients, and visitors of The University of Iowa. The department consists of five operating units; CAMBUS, Commuter Programs, Fleet Services, Facility Operations, and Parking Services. These units collaborate to provide a broad range of parking and transportation options and services.
Minimum Eligibility Requirements
Two years’ experience in a public contact position.
Experience must include use of computers and/or tablets.
Special Qualifications
A valid driver’s license is required, as well as an ability to meet and maintain University of Iowa Driving Policy.
Desirable Qualifications
Knowledge of University of Iowa campus and locations of various parking facilities.
Customer service/public contact experience.
Ability to adapt, prioritize, and organize multiple tasks.
Excellent communication skills in order to interact effectively with people from various backgrounds and cultures.
