Job Details Job Title: Senior Associate Director of Marketing

Full/Part Time: Full-Time, FLSA Exempt

Reports To: Chief of Brand Strategy

Responsibilities

Lead Long Island University's editorial strategy, flagship publications, and external editorial collaborations; serve as a key connector with corporate, cultural, and industry partners; manage full lifecycle of print and digital publications; supervise freelance and part-time writers; ensure editorial excellence across University communications.

Cultivate and manage partnerships with premier organizations such as Dassault Systèmes, Roc Nation, Virtual Enterprise International, The Society of Presidential Descendants, BSE Global, and Live Nation to amplify the University’s brand.

Lead integrated marketing strategies across digital, print, and media channels to advance enrollment, retention, fundraising, and brand awareness.

Ensure brand consistency in messaging, tone, and visual identity; collaborate with departments across the University to support recruitment, retention, fundraising, and branding goals.

Mentor student workers, interns, part-time staff, and contracted vendors; coordinate multichannel campaigns; use analytics to measure effectiveness; identify trends and best practices; represent the University at events.

Other duties as assigned by Chief of Brand Strategy or senior leadership.

Focus Area: Strategic Publications

Editorial Leadership: editor-in-chief for flagship magazine, newsletters, and annual reports; oversee calendars and long-term content strategies.

Content Development: produce materials highlighting student success, faculty scholarship, alumni impact, and donor support; review for accuracy and brand alignment.

Design & Layout Oversight; Copy Editing & Quality Control; Freelance & Part-Time Writer Management; Digital Integration; Project & Vendor Management; Innovation & Benchmarking; Collaboration with Brand Strategy Team (cross-team collaboration).

Focus Area: Strategic Partnerships & External Relations

Develop and steward relationships with corporate, cultural, and industry partners; collaborate with Advancement and University leadership to showcase strategic alliances.

Act as liaison to ensure messaging is aligned and joint initiatives maximize visibility; explore new opportunities.

Education & Experience Education:

Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, English, or related field required; Master’s degree strongly preferred.

Experience:

Minimum of 7 years in editorial management, publications, or communications; higher education or nonprofit preferred; experience managing publications lifecycle; strong writing/editing/proofreading; AP style; manage freelancers; work with designers; project management; external partnerships; familiar with CMS and email marketing platforms.

Working Conditions Some evening and weekend work may be required for deadlines and events. Occasional travel to LIU campuses, partner sites, and external vendor locations. LIU is an equal opportunity employer. Hiring is contingent on eligibility to work in the United States.
