Qualifications
Education:
Completion of High School or equivalent.
Experience:
1-3 years of experience as Emergency Medical Technician, Emergency Medical Dispatcher or Public Safety communications. Emergency Medical Dispatcher, Emergency Medical Technician/Basic Certificate, Paramedic preferred. Will accept current Navicent Health Emergency Center Communications Specialist (with training provided by Navicent Health) in lieu of certification or RN with Emergency Medicine experience or familiar with Emergency Medicine terminology.

Special Training/Skills:
Must satisfactorily complete Navient Health Emergency Radio Communication Training. Must have excellent organization, interpersonal and communications skills, problem-solving and critical thinking abilities. Must be able to work with accuracy under stress and in emergency situations. Must comply with HIPPA protocol.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to use visual acuity to see monitor screen, computer and hard copy materials. Must be able to hear and verbally communicate in person and over the phone or radio. Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time. Must be able to comprehend and learn operation of various office equipment.
Mandatory Training Required:
Must attend general hospital and department specific mandatory training.

All (All age groups) – N/A does not provide direct patient care.
Working Conditions:
Works in hospital. Must be able to remain calm under emergency situations.
OSHA Classification:
This position will involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or infectious materials as defined by OSHA, or may involve no exposure. Proper protective attire is required and supportive training is provided in the department Policy and Procedure Manual.
