The Legal Aid Society of Mid-New York, Inc. (LASMNY) is a non-profit public interest law firm. We provide free legal information, advice and representation to people who are unable to afford a lawyer. Our staff serves thirteen counties: Broome, Chenango, Cayuga, Cortland, Delaware, Herkimer, Jefferson, Lewis, Madison, Oneida, Onondaga, Oswego, and Otsego. Our Agricultural Worker Program (AWP) serves the entire New York State. Mission:

LASMNY provides free legal assistance to low-income people facing civil legal problems that affect basic needs. Through legal advice, emergency services, and representation, we help stabilize finances, protect families from domestic violence, obtain access to healthcare, prevent homelessness due to eviction, protect homes from foreclosure, and increase household income. We target vulnerable populations such as senior citizens, DV victims, people with disabilities, refugees and immigrants, and veterans. Job Summary

LASMNY is actively seeking a dynamic full-time Law Graduate who will work under the supervision of a Managing Attorney to provide direct and comprehensive services to eligible clients in civil legal matters as assigned. Responsibilities include verifying eligibility information per Case Management Policy, conducting legal research, drafting pleadings, legal memoranda, advocacy letters, and other legal papers, participating in staff and case acceptance meetings and program-wide workgroups. Other duties as assigned. Demonstrates an understanding and commitment to LASMNY’s mission and value of justice. Responsibilities

Provide direct and comprehensive civil legal services to eligible clients under the supervision of a Managing Attorney. Verify eligibility information in accordance with Case Management Policy and priorities for service. Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, memoranda, advocacy letters, and other legal papers. Participate in staff and case acceptance meetings and program-wide workgroups. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications
