Zando
Zando, a nimble independent publisher, is seeking a full-time Senior Publicist to join our growing and dynamic team. Reporting to our Director of Publicity, the Senior Publicist will independently develop and execute dynamic publicity campaigns and author tours for titles across our imprints, with opportunities spanning literary, commercial, and genre fiction, YA, narrative nonfiction, and serious nonfiction. This is a full-time position based in New York, NY. Zando offers competitive salaries and a comprehensive benefits package.
Key Responsibilities:
Must independently lead publicity campaigns for a selection of our titles across the Zando lists each season: conceiving, developing, and executing campaigns from start to finish.
Pitching and securing national and local media: print, online, radio, podcast, and TV coverage including reviews, author interviews, and off-the-book-page features.
Pitching and securing events with bookstores for regional and nationwide book tours.
Coordinating travel arrangements for authors, creating detailed tour schedules, soliciting conversation partners, and accompanying authors to certain bookings.
Create well-researched media lists, draft press materials including promotional plans, galley letters, press releases, Q&As, and assist in brainstorming author op-eds as needed.
Collaborate closely with editorial, marketing, and sales colleagues on all aspects of a book launch and internal information-share.
Develop and maintain close relationships with the press, seek out new contacts and outlets, strategize on and implement creative ideas for publicizing titles.
Effectively present regular status updates in company-wide meetings, and proactively share updates with authors, agents, and other key stakeholders.
Coordinate publicity-related book mailings.
Help manage awards submissions for our titles, including maintaining and updating awards databases.
Deliver exceptional author care throughout the entire publicity process.
Qualifications:
Minimum 4 years of publicity experience in book publishing, with minimum 2 years of experience independently leading your own campaigns.
Relationships with national and regional media, radio, TV, print, online, and podcast contacts.
Interest in literature and proven ability to generate creative angles on book/author pitches.
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Excellent organizational skills and impeccable eye for detail.
Diplomatic, clear communicator with exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal skills
Self-starting and highly motivated
Proficiency with Microsoft and Google Suite.
Familiarity with NetGalley, Muck Rack, Podchaser, Edelweiss
