The Produce Manager is primarily responsible for managing all aspects of the department’s operations. The Produce Manager is responsible for maintaining and overseeing the Produce and Floral areas and supervising, training, and retraining all Produce Department personnel. Work performance is reviewed by the Store Director and the Administrative Produce Supervisor. Essential Job Duties: Supervises Produce Food Clerks and Produce General Clerks. Oversees Produce Personnel in their daily tasks, communications, and new procedures. Authorized to sign and approve deliveries, orders, invoices, price changes, merchandise credits, personnel information forms, employee evaluations, accident reports, building maintenance job orders, and damage claim forms. Trims all Produce items for retail sale and prepares fruits and vegetables for retail sales. Maintains all floral and chill cases within the Produce sales floor. Fills, stocks, and replenishes display cases as needed. Supervises and assists in the clean-up of prep room, storage areas, tools, and equipment, reporting any hazardous conditions to the Store Director. Assists in training all new employees. Provides and cares for all department equipment. Checks required temperatures of freezer walk-in, chill walk-in, prep room, and all display cases. Services customers and prepares orders. Drives forklift to receive products. Understands and abides by all company policies and procedures. Other Job Duties: Takes weekly and/or monthly inventory as required. Maintains efficient customer service and good personal appearance. Complies with and enforces all store activities in relation to governmental and regulatory agencies. Establishes good working relationships with all departments to enhance teamwork. Supports and promotes Sales Programs initiated by the Company. Completes any tasks as deemed necessary by management. Physical Requirements: Must be able to safely lift up to 75 lbs. Must be able to push and pull at least 1000 lbs with assistance. Requires standing for long periods (up to 3 hours without a break; up to 7 hours for an entire shift). Continuous bending, stooping, squatting, crawling, and kneeling required. Must be able to drive a forklift. In an 8-hour day, must be able to walk continuously throughout the shift (up to 7 hours). Mental Requirements: Requires knowledge and expertise in Produce operations. Accuracy is essential in all aspects of the job. Must be able to communicate effectively with customers and employees. Ability to work independently and as a team member. Must be resourceful and able to multi-task. Work Hours: May require working overnights, early mornings, evenings, and weekends. Must be willing to work at any Times/Big Save Locations on the island. Working Conditions: Conditions may be very cold or hot depending on the store. Walk-in chills; temperatures between 30-40 Degrees Fahrenheit. Warehouse may reach temperatures of over 100 Degrees Fahrenheit during summer months. Equipment: Knives Cutting boards Forklift Other specialized equipment as listed in the original description. Potential Hazards: Improper use of chemicals for sanitation. Cuts from knives and sharp tools. Slips and falls due to wet floors. Injuries from improper work methods or lifting. Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years of age. High School Graduate preferred. 6 months to 1 year experience as a Produce Clerk. Good communication skills and ability to supervise. Compensation:

Starting rate (as deemed by current pay schedule) or commensurate with experience.
