We’re looking for a

Communications Manager

to lead storytelling, branding, and content strategy for key initiatives and programs at University College, with a primary focus on the Work-integrated Learning Accelerator. This position is funded wholly or in part by sources other than the general operating appropriation and is a short-term role projected to last for one year. This role is strategic and hands-on: setting the editorial vision, coordinating a team of student creatives, producing high-impact content across channels, and building CRM-driven email campaigns.

About the Work-integrated Learning Accelerator

The Work + Learn team at Arizona State University is launching a national Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) Accelerator to drive integration of WIL in higher education. The Communications Manager would lead the early phase of the initiative’s communications, including content strategy and overseeing the content website. Other projects include Work+ (ASU’s student employment framework), the Work+ Collective (national effort for promoting student employment redesign), and a general promotional strategy for student support services.

Who you’ll work with

You will work with a team of students: designers, communication specialists, web designers, and videographers. You will report to the Director, Creative Strategy, and take guidance from stakeholders on the Work+ Learn team. Position Salary Range:

$72,000

annually

Responsibilities

Develop and execute a cohesive communications and content strategy that positions ASU as a national leader in Work-Integrated Learning. Translate complex concepts into compelling narratives for diverse audiences (higher ed leaders, employers, policymakers, and students). Direct the creation of multi-format content (video, web, graphics, copy) in collaboration with student designers, writers, and producers. Oversee the content and narrative development of the WIL Accelerator website. Own and manage the content calendars for the WIL Accelerator, as well as the wider University College. Write and edit high-quality copy for emails, LinkedIn, web pages, and other owned channels. Lead strategy and execution for priority channels (LinkedIn and email campaigns). Manage updates to web content in coordination with the web team. Support light PR activities as needed (press list development, occasional pitches). Track and report performance on key content metrics (engagement, reach, clickthroughs). Recommend adjustments based on performance insights. Regularly communicates with stakeholders about project needs, updates, and best practices. Collaborate with stakeholders on design and communications ideas and strategy.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, design, journalism, or related field. 5+ years in communications, marketing, or content strategy (experience in higher ed, workforce, or nonprofit sectors a plus). Supervisory experience, particularly managing early-career professionals or student employees. Ability to analyze data and insights to inform strategies and refine content approaches. Proven ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities in a fast-paced environment. Understanding of user-centered design principles and how they apply to communications. Commitment to facilitating professional development for team members, particularly working learners.
