The Communications Associate supports the strategic vision of the school by managing and executing a wide range of communication initiatives. Reporting to the Marketing and Communications Director, this role ensures clear, consistent and engaging messaging across all channels—both internal and external—while serving as a key partner to leadership, faculty and staff. The Communications Associate plays a critical role in strengthening community relationships, advancing enrollment and fundraising goals and enhancing the school’s overall visibility. This role is a full-time, year-round staff position with an in-office requirement Monday through Friday. Responsibilities
School Communications Manage official communications across key departments including Schoolhouse, Admissions, Advancement, Athletics, the Office of the President, Board of Trustees and Alumni Relations. Draft, edit, and distribute weekly and monthly newsletters for families. Develop and oversee email workflows targeted to prospective families. Digital & Website Management Oversee school blog content and collaborate with stakeholders to generate stories that highlight the school community. Write, edit and publish timely website news updates across relevant webpages. Maintain and update website content including faculty and staff directory and Parent Portal. Registration & Forms Build, manage and maintain forms for multiple departments (Admissions, Advancement, Athletics, Business Office, Summer Camps). Support recurring and ad-hoc forms, payment systems and surveys. Build and manage the annual Summer Camp registration system (CampBrain), including automated reminder emails. Marketing & Advertising Update and manage annual admissions and promotional banners (fence, street, graduation, summer camp). Coordinate with the City of Sammamish and other partners to schedule banner placements. Media & Public Relations Write and distribute press releases and media alerts to local outlets. Serve as a point of contact for media inquiries as needed. Internal & Crisis Communications Assist with messaging created for on-campus digital signage, internal TVs and external reader board. Support communications for the Incident Response Team. Lead crisis communications when the Director of Marketing and Communications is unavailable. Social Media Plan, write, edit and approve social media content in alignment with school strategy. Monitor engagement and adjust communications based on analytics. Publications & Editorial Projects Contribute to major school publications such as the Curriculum Guide and School Handbook through writing, editing and stakeholder coordination. Maintain a library of marketing assets including articles, advertisements and print materials. Other Duties Support special projects and perform additional communications responsibilities as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills under tight deadlines. Strong organizational and project management abilities, with the capacity to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders. Strategic thinker with a proactive and detail-oriented mindset. Self-motivated and able to anticipate upcoming communications needs. Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism or related field preferred. 2–3 years of professional communications or marketing experience, preferably in education or a mission-driven organization. Proficiency with content management systems and Microsoft Office Suite, with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technology tools and platforms, working knowledge of design software such as Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and related applications. Salary Range: $27.00 – $32.00 per hour Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, degrees, and certifications.
