Job Description WSP is initiating a search for a Drainage and Stormwater Senior Technical Manager for our Herndon, Virginia office. The successful candidate will manage the delivery of multiple drainage and stormwater design projects and hydrologic analyses, with experience in hydraulic (H&H) studies for stormwater management, conveyance systems, resilient infrastructure, and flood control in Virginia and throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. Perform professional civil engineering on roadway, stormwater, and site projects for multiple federal, state, and local clients. Manage drainage design, stormwater management, flood control, and hydrologic & hydraulic modeling. Coordinate complex multi-disciplinary traditional design and alternative delivery projects. Review and approve design plans, ensuring data integrity and compliance with codes, ordinances, and regulations. Mentor junior staff in drainage and stormwater design, with emphasis on Virginia and local requirements. Manage permitting, public participation, and coordination with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients in a professional manner. Oversee cross-functional teams in executing projects, including budgets, hours, expenses, and task completion. Collaborate with professionals from various disciplines to provide future-ready solutions for clients. Stay current with drainage and stormwater standards and water resources engineering techniques. Support regional business development, including contributions to proposals, interviews, and other pursuit activities. Adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies; manage resources responsibly. Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs. Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Water Resources Engineering or closely related discipline. Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required. Virginia, Maryland, and/or District of Columbia licensure preferred. 10+ years of relevant post-education experience in the A/E/C industry with a technical client-facing background in water resources. Experience in water resources engineering including hydraulic modeling of open-channel and closed conduit systems. Ability to manage several projects concurrently, provide senior-level input, and serve as technical manager. Proficient knowledge of related engineering principles and their application to permitting and project work. Strong knowledge of Stormwater Management, Drainage, Hydrology & Hydraulics Design, Watershed Studies, Floodplain Delineation, etc. Experience with project and client development/relationship management and coordinating with agency regulators. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for engineering and non-engineering audiences. Demonstrated self-leadership, attention to detail, multitasking, and prioritization in a dynamic environment. Ability to work independently and lead junior team members with strict QA/QC adherence. Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, OpenRoads, PondPack, HEC-RAS, project collaboration software, Bluebeam, and ArcGIS. Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities to apply technical knowledge to data and testing results. Proven experience coordinating and directing subconsultants to complete tasks safely and efficiently. Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree or additional certifications in related discipline. Experience working with state/county/local/municipal clients in the Northern Virginia region. Virginia DEQ plan reviewer certification for stormwater management and/or erosion control. Working knowledge of roadway and utility design principles. About WSP
