Laurel House
This position provides case management, counseling, supportive services, and advocacy to adults and their children who have experienced domestic violence. Services are provided at our Safe Haven Center shelter. This position represents Laurel House in the community by participating in community and Laurel House events.
This is a part-time position with hours on Saturday & Sunday. 16 hours per week.
Candidates must have the ability to defuse, deescalate, and respond appropriately in a crisis and work with individuals of diverse cultural backgrounds and beliefs. Ideal candidates should have experience working with victims of domestic violence and have case management experience, a Bachelor's degree in a related field, or one to two years of experience. Bilingual capability is a plus (Spanish or ASL preferred).
Provide individual empowerment counseling and advocacy to clients staying in our shelter.
Provide hotline callers with crisis and supportive counseling, information, referrals, and assistance with safety planning.
Screen and admit hotline callers seeking shelter for domestic violence.
Orient new residents to communal living and shelter life, ensuring paperwork is completed.
Conduct intake for clients in shelter.
Provide shelter residents with one-on-one supportive/options counseling in areas of goal planning, domestic violence education, safety planning, etc.
Assist residents in working toward goals.
Enter client notes into database.
Facilitate house meetings as needed.
Facilitate process by which residents exit the shelter, including conducting exit interviews and ensuring the room is properly vacated.
Responsible for security of the shelter, its contents, and the well-being of clients and children.
Responsible for some community outreach and fiscal management.
