We are looking for an Associate to join our Corporate Communications team, focusing on external communications for The Wonderful Company and its operations. In this role, you will support high-visibility projects, develop expertise in crisis management and strategic communication, foster employee engagement, enhance communication strategies, and ensure alignment across the organization. You will track emerging issues, support reputational efforts for the company and our founders, craft compelling content for employees, partners, and external stakeholders, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver consistent, impactful messaging that aligns with our mission and values. The Associate, Corporate Communications will report to the Senior Manager, Corporate Communications, and will be based out of our West L.A. office on a hybrid basis. We are in the office Monday through Wednesday, with the option to work remotely on Thursday and Friday.
Responsibilities
Media Relations:
Monitor media outlets and social media on an ongoing basis to track emerging issues and public sentiment using industry-leading monitoring tools (i.e., Signal AI, MuckRack, Hootsuite). Vet incoming media opportunities, maintain media lists, and develop coverage recaps for clients. Monitor communications mailbox and route media and partnership inquiries to the appropriate stakeholders.
Content Creation:
Draft, edit, and proofread communications, including internal emails, blog posts, newsletter articles, talking points, backgrounders, FAQs, press releases, and intranet articles. Design engaging content for corporate social media channels and prepare regular recap reports, ensuring alignment with brand voice and communication strategies. Assist in crafting clear, concise, and accurate messaging during crisis situations.
Employee Engagement & Awards:
Provide project management support for enterprise-wide surveys and announcements that support our employer-of-choice initiative. Research industry trends, competitors, and awards program opportunities. Coordinate seasonal events that enhance workplace culture and increase employee engagement.
Administrative Support:
Coordinate and provide support that includes scheduling meetings and brainstorm sessions, creating agendas, distributing meeting recaps, supporting tour/event coordination, and preparing presentations. Provide project management support for a diverse portfolio of enterprise-wide initiatives and projects.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment. Assist with a variety of special projects.
Qualifications
At least 3 years of experience in corporate communications, internal communications, or public relations, and a desire to grow in the field preferred. A strong interest in learning about agriculture, real estate, and consumer packaged goods (CPG) to effectively support communications strategies across our diverse portfolio. Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, English, or related business field. Strong interpersonal skills and time management abilities with demonstrated ability to proactively complete tasks and meet goals in partnership with others and under minimal supervision. Demonstrated capability to meet tight deadlines, manage multiple projects simultaneously, adapt to change, be open to new ideas, take on new responsibilities, and embrace a growth mindset. Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and consistency in all written, visual, and verbal communications. Strong writer who identifies and develops compelling stories that support organizational goals and business initiatives. Ability to use discretion when dealing with confidential and sensitive information. Anticipates potential issues and proposes creative, effective solutions. Fluency in Microsoft 365, Adobe suite, and Canva. Familiarity building PowerPoint presentations and working with digital files and assets (i.e., image resizing, cropping, etc.). Familiarity with AP style and standard PR media and social media monitoring tools (i.e., Cision, Critical Mention, Notified, Hootsuite) is a plus. Strong understanding of social media platforms, preferably LinkedIn and Instagram. Familiarity with handling logistics for public events or announcements. Ability to speak, read and write in Spanish preferred.
Pay Range:
$34.00 - $37.00/hour and may include a discretionary bonus. Final compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience.
