Develops and implements large-scale strategic, integrated marketing and communication plans for the Division of Student Affairs and high-level projects, including staff onboarding and social media management. Consults and supports effective marketing and communication strategies at all unit levels within the division. Establishes and maintains communications and style guidelines and policies for the Division of Student Affairs. Collaborates with SHSU Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) and Enrollment Management to integrate interests at the institutional level and throughout the student recruitment cycle. Evaluates and adjusts marketing and communications tactics to maintain strategic alignment with leadership efforts. Serves as marketing and communications advisor to the Vice President for Student Affairs and the Student Affairs leadership team. Crafts, reviews, and ensures consistency of messaging to key audiences from all departments in the Division of Student Affairs. Provides strategic direction in creating and executing marketing, communication and media strategies to build awareness and relationships; manages social media to connect with community stakeholders. Drafts and distributes messaging to meet long- and short-term goals; maintains high confidentiality on sensitive assignments. Works independently and with the student affairs leadership team to achieve goals; fosters a positive organizational image and builds internal relationships. Maintains contacts across Student Affairs and assists other SA units with vision, management, and content development. Acts as division liaison for communication with other divisions and coordinates activities, programs, publications, executive summaries, and student affairs matters. Creates and curates informative content for online and print media; translates complex concepts into clear language for varied audiences. Designs, prepares, revises, and distributes reports, documents, newsletters, web pages, videos, and publications; keeps the Student Affairs website current. Assists with social media presence per the Student Affairs communication plan; collaborates with University IMC branding guidelines. Coordinates onboarding plans for all newly hired staff in the Division of Student Affairs and collaborates with supervisors for successful execution. Performs other related duties as assigned. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; ability to multitask and work under pressure. Strong knowledge of communication practices and technologies; stay current with industry trends. Knowledge of public relations and internal marketing/communications planning; experience designing and executing strategies and campaigns. Ability to establish effective relationships across audiences and work independently or as part of a team. Analytical and strategic thinking; ability to handle diverse issues from administrative to policy to technology. Problem-solving and process-improvement suggestions; effective cross-department communication. Experience with social media platforms (LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat) and familiarity with local, state, and federal laws. Ability to manage business functions.
