Schedule F General Statement of Responsibilities
The function of a coach is to educate students through participation in an interscholastic competition. An interscholastic program should be designed to enhance academic achievement and should actively promote opportunities for academic success. Each student should be treated with the utmost respect, and his or her welfare should be considered in decisions by the coach at all times. Coaches have tremendous influence over students and as such shall instill the highest levels of ethical and moral character in their athletes. Coaches are expected to uphold the honor and dignity of the profession. Strong ethical and integrity will be evident in all interactions with students, officials, athletic directors, school administrators, state athletic officials, and members of the media or public. Major Duties

Candidate must be at least 21 years of age Possess a current CPR certification Meet all coaching qualifications, course requirements and certifications as determined by federal, state and District criteria Pass background investigation as outlined by the District Be recommended by Principal or designee Receive Governing Board approval Possess an active Arizona Department of Public Safety IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card Head Coach Additional Requirements
In addition to qualifications listed above a head coach (varsity, JV, freshman levels) must: 8. Possess a valid Arizona Teacher or Substitute Certificate. (Lower-Level coaches, if not certified, must be under the direct supervision of a certified staff member) Volunteer Coach
At all times, the volunteer shall be under supervision of a full-time certified staff member. (The certified staff member shall be designated via PUHSD approved process) Supervision
Supervision Received: Unit Principal, Unit Assistant Principal or Certified Staff Member (Assistant Coaches/Volunteer Coaches). Supervision Given: Head Coaches (Assistant Coaches/Volunteer Coaches)
