The
Mobile Crisis Outreach Team (MCOT)
provides mobile, on-demand behavioral health crisis support to individuals of all ages throughout the community. Whether in homes, shelters, schools, or on the streets, MCOT engages clients experiencing mental health or substance use crises, helping them stabilize, navigate challenges, and access further care using trauma-informed, culturally responsive, recovery-based methods. As a
Peer Counselor , you will use your lived experience with behavioral health to connect with individuals in crisis, offering hope, encouragement, and tools for recovery. Your role is vital in helping clients feel heard, empowered, and supported. Provide
peer support and mentorship
to promote hope and self-determination. Help clients
navigate community and natural supports , including treatment resources. Validate clients’ lived experiences and
offer encouragement through shared understanding . Support family/natural supports with information and empathy. Collaborate with clinical staff in setting and reviewing client-centered goals. Monitor symptoms and behaviors as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Requirements
Lived experience
with behavioral health or substance use challenges (required). Washington State Peer Counselor Certification
(preferred). Valid WA Driver’s License and vehicle insurance, if applicable. DOH Agency Affiliated Counselor application (required upon hire if not licensed). Passion for advocacy and belief in recovery. About Compass Health
