Overview

The City of Dublin is accepting applications for a Communications Supervisor position in emergency communications within the Northwest Regional Emergency Communications Center (NRECC). This leadership role provides daily technical supervision and guidance to Communications Technicians on an assigned shift, enforces agency policies, procedures, work rules, and directives, and may support the responsibilities of a communications technician as needed. NRECC is the primary public safety dispatch center for the Cities of Dublin, Hilliard, Upper Arlington, Worthington, Washington Township, and Norwich Township. It is located inside the Dublin Justice Center and serves as the primary 9-1-1 answering point for the region. Shift Assignments and Schedule

Six Communications Supervisors exist within NRECC. This posting may fill multiple vacancies. Each position is assigned supervision responsibilities for one of the three operational shifts (1st, 2nd, or 3rd) and requires variable hours based on shift needs and department requirements, including training and management meetings. Availability during irregular hours, including weekends, may be required. First Shift: 6:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Second Shift: 2:45 p.m. to 10:45 p.m. Third Shift: 10:45 p.m. to 6:45 a.m. This position is designated as Non-Exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime or compensatory time. Supervises, plans, and assigns work to Communications Technicians on an assigned shift; provides technical and operational guidance and direction. Evaluates work performance through quality assurance reviews of calls for service and Emergency Medical Dispatch calls for service. Conducts mid-year reviews and performance evaluations; takes corrective action and issues disciplines as needed. Maintains staffing levels for the assigned shift; reviews and approves timecards; reports equipment issues. Provides audio recordings and computerized records during the shift. Recommends center goals and objectives; assists in writing, revising, and implementing policies. Fosters an inclusive and collaborative culture; performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED equivalent with two (2) years of experience as a Communications Technician/911 Dispatcher; some experience as a Communications Training Officer preferred, or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of CAD, LEADS/NCIC, 911 operations, police/fire/EMS dispatching, EMD, CTO, and IDT rules and regulations. Ability to acquire and maintain LEADS/NCIC certification within probationary period. Knowledge of Part 90 FCC rules and regulations; strong written and verbal communication skills. Skills in understanding communications center equipment and functionality; ability to set expectations, lead by example, and manage conflicts. Ability to work flexible hours as needed; knowledge of LEADS TAC and Next Gen 911 features preferred; ability to acquire and maintain EMD certification. Professional leadership and training experience preferred. Physical Requirements

Ability to use public safety radio communications equipment. Ability to move about an office space to access files and equipment; operate a computer and office machinery. Must be able to remain at a workstation for the scheduled workday; ability to lift/move objects up to 10–15 lbs; ability to exchange information via email, phone, and in person. Special and Other Requirements

Possession of a valid driver’s license. Must establish and maintain a primary residence within a county the Police Department has jurisdiction, or a contiguous county (list includes Franklin, Delaware, Union, Morrow, Marion, Hardin, Logan, Champaign, Madison, Pickaway, Fairfield, Licking, and Knox).
