Position Summary
The Secretary/Communications Coordinator serves as the first point of contact for students, families, and visitors, ensuring a welcoming and professional atmosphere in the school office. This position supports daily school operations by managing attendance, student records, and registration, as well as assisting with family communication and community engagement. The coordinator also oversees the school’s internal and external communications—including social media, publications, and the school website—to promote the mission and activities of the school community. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Greet and assist guests, parents, and students in a courteous and professional manner. Answer and direct phone calls, respond to inquiries, and monitor the main school entrance and visitor check-in. Record and maintain accurate student attendance information through the Attendance Line, email, and Student Information System (SIS). Supervise student arrivals and departures for appointments or early dismissals. Maintain student cumulative files and process registrations, withdrawals, and transfers. Support new family recruitment, enrollment, and orientation. Design and distribute weekly family communications in collaboration with administration. Create flyers, graphics, and promotional materials using Canva or other design platforms. Capture photographs for the yearbook, social media, and weekly newsletters. Maintain and update the school’s website and Student Information System to ensure accuracy and relevance. Manage and grow the school’s social media presence (Facebook, Instagram, etc.) and foster positive media and community relations. Provide general administrative and communication support to the principal and staff as needed. Qualifications
A high school diploma is required; an associate or bachelor’s degree is preferred. Candidates should have prior experience in a school office or communications-related position and possess strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. Proficiency with office software, digital communication tools, and social media platforms is essential.
